Choosing AAC Block Thickness: 75 mm to 300 mm Explained

Xtralite AAC blocks come in a standard 600 × 200 mm face with thicknesses from 75 mm to 300 mm. The right thickness depends on whether the wall is a partition or an external wall, and on thermal and acoustic needs.

ThicknessTypical use
75–100 mmInternal partition walls
125–150 mmPartitions needing more sound/fire separation
200 mmExternal walls — good thermal and sound performance
225–300 mmExternal walls with higher insulation requirements

Why thickness matters

  • Thicker walls give better thermal insulation — lower cooling costs
  • More thickness improves sound reduction between rooms
  • External walls generally use 200 mm and above
  • Internal non-load-bearing partitions can use 75–100 mm to save space and weight

Block-laying tip

AAC blocks are laid with a thin-bed block adhesive rather than thick cement-sand mortar — it's faster, uses less material and gives a stronger, neater joint. Unique Sales Corporation supplies Xtralite AAC blocks in all thicknesses plus the laying adhesive, in Gurugram and in bulk.
