Tile Adhesive vs Cement-Sand: Why Modern Adhesives Win

Vitrified and large-format tiles have low water absorption, so the old cement-sand bed often fails to bond properly with them — leading to hollow tiles and de-bonding. Modern thin-bed tile adhesives solve this and have largely replaced cement-sand for quality tiling.

Choosing the right adhesive type

  • Type 1 (C1) — standard ceramic tiles on internal walls and floors
  • Type 2 (C2) — vitrified and large tiles, higher bond
  • PU (e.g. PU2K) — flexible, for areas with movement or vibration
  • Epoxy (2K/3K) — chemical and water resistance for industrial, wet and heavy-duty areas

Unique Sales Corporation supplies UltraTech Building Solutions tile adhesives — including the Tilefixo range, Ultima, PU2K and epoxy grouts — in Gurugram, matched to your tile and surface.
